Debut author Grace Reddick has written a children’s story that is full of imagination and impossibilities that are sure to delight young children! Rich with colorful illustrations, I think your family will enjoy this one!
“Ashley’s Unforgettable Summer” is the tale of a young girl named Ashley and her unforgettable summer–oops, sorry about that…been helping my son with book reports lately:-) (Just kidding, Book Kid!)
Ashley and her family take a trip to Africa, but it isn’t the kind of family vacation Ashley expected. Instead of luxury, they stay in huts, travel by land rovers called a Wacky Bus, and see the real Africa.
Unexpectedly (and unwisely in my parental opinion), Ashley’s parents let her take home an exotic pet as a ’souvenir’, and you’ll never guess what she picks out! Okay, you probably will, so I’ll just spill it…
…a chimp named Tina. And spill it is a good term, because Tina tends to get into EVERYTHING and spill and squirt and spread…like a toddler on Pixie Sticks! Ashley and her friend Rylee spend their summer chasing after the chimpanzee and keeping up with her antics.
Kids will love the trouble Tina gets into. She’s a female version of Curious George, with a hint more mischief and a bit more mess! This would be a wonderful series that will keep children entertained and expand their imaginations.
Just do NOT run out and buy them a chimp! Buy them this book instead:-) I’m giving “Ashley’s Unforgettable Summer” four out of five bookmarks, with a whisk broom as a charm…she’s going to need it!
Happy Reading!

Since the publication of her first book, “Ashley’s Unforgettable Summer,” in 2007, Grace Reddick’s life has been a whirlwind. When writing her first book, she did not realize the tremendous impact it would have on people.
“I have always enjoyed writing. I began to journal many years ago, and found it to bring healing for my mind and spirit. It also enables me to seek and express my inner self,” Reddick said.
Reddick has been invited to participate at many school events throughout the local area where she has spoken to hundreds of students about her book. Her granddaughter and inspiration for the book, Ashley, is a teacher at Sand Hill Elementary in Rincon.
Reddick enjoys being given the opportunity to speak at the various schools. She captivates the students with her story about Ashley and her unforgettable and challenging summer. Not only does she participate on various school programs, she also donates books to all the schools and libraries she has been invited to. She wants children to have access to the book, and believes that reading is a vital part of learning.
“I am grateful my book is helping others, and children are reading it,” Reddick said. On Nov. 14, she is scheduled to participate in South Effingham Middle School’s Annual Career Day.
Reddick has received book reviews from as far away as Melbourne, Australia. Book reviews have also come from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Virginia, California and Utah.
Since becoming a published author, Reddick has joined various writers’ groups. She is a member of the International Society of Poets, a member of the Christian Pen, a member of Authors’ Den, and is also a member of CWTR (Christian Women Take Root). She is proud to be a Ministry Partner of the Fellowship of Christians and Jews.
Reddick is currently working on her second book, “Forsaken Land.” Her second book is also a children’s book. “I hope it will be published the first part of next year,” she said.
“Once my second book is completed, I plan to write on a personal and spiritual level. My deepest desire is to uplift and bring renewed hope to readers who may be experiencing difficult life circumstances.”
Reddick grew up in Savannah, and now lives in Ellabell. You can visit her Web site at

Ashley’s Unforgettable Summer Makes for Great Summertime Read
Dorothy Thompson
June 16, 2008
Dr. Edith W. Anderson, Freelance Writer of the Bryan County Now, Savannah Morning News and Hinesville Coastal Courier says ASHLEY’S UNFORGETTABLE SUMMER is an excellent book for school libraries. “…it’s an excellent children’s book. Ashley, the main character, captures your attention with her unpredictable chimpanzee, Tina. The colorful illustrations blend in well with the story that is being told. This author is to be commended and I strongly recomment it for readers of all ages.”
Grace Reddick was born and grew up in Savannah, GA and moved to Ellabell, GA in 1970. She is a born again child of God, and has been a member of Faulkville Baptist Church since 1995.
She is a member of the International Society of Poets, a member of The Christian Pen and a member of Authors Den. Grace has donated books to all the school’s and libraries she has been invited to. She wants children to have access to the book, and believes that reading is a vital part of learning.
Grace has always loved to write for her own pleasure. She began to journal many years ago, and found it to bring healing for her mind and spirit. It also enabled her to seek and express her inner self.
Grace has written poetry for the local paper, as well as articles and poetry upon request. She had always admired writers, and hoped that one day she would be able to achieve that same prestige . After a short period she put her writings aside for several years. She wasn’t quite sure why, maybe the timing wasn’t right. Last year Grace realized that she should pursue the talent that God had given her. She once again began to create a story, populate it with characters, and act out the ideas that were buzzing around in her head.
